Autonomous surveillance rover — commissioning

On-site integration and commissioning of autonomous surveillance rovers — bridging lab-validated software and operational deployment.

Context

I commissioned autonomous surveillance rovers for several large-scale clients — organisations such as large-scale infrastructure operators, a national defense operator, and a major airport operator. All of this work is covered by NDA, so it is described here in anonymized terms. Each engagement centred on the gap between software that behaves in the lab and hardware that has to run in a real operational environment.

What was delivered

The work was hands-on and on-site: integrating and commissioning the rovers in their actual operating environment, and turning lab-validated software into systems that hold up under real field conditions.

Tech stack

This engagement was about operational integration rather than a single toolchain: taking software validated under controlled lab conditions and adapting it to the constraints of on-site deployment — the field realities that only surface once the hardware leaves the lab.
